Since I started this project I have become very interested in the real-time coverage of
events on the web. Here are some links to other interesting real-time web publishing
efforts: (Also see Wired Adventures Links)
The Jason Project The Jason Project was founded by
Robert Ballard, the discoverer of the Titanic wreck. The Jason Project is a non-profit
education organization that organizes expeditions to explore the world and publish the
results in real time for students to participate in. Latest expedition: Our JASON IX
Guaymas Expedition is well under way as the scientists and teachers onboard the RV
Atlantis are hard at work exploring the hydrothermal vents and keeping us up-to-date on
what they're finding out there
24 Hours in Cyberspace
One of the most ambitious real-time web publishing projects ever undertaken. Rick Smolan,
author of "From Alice to Ocean," the first interactive coffee-table book and
former Time, Life and National Geographic Photographer, coordinated thousands of
participants to record the effect of the Internet on lives around the world over the
course of 24 hours. A for concept, A for effort, A for execution.
Mount Everest
'98 Expedition real-time coverage of the ascent of the worlds highest mountain. Talk
about tough conditions for web publishing!
Technomad Times Great links to
the best Wired Aventurer web sites (like, ahem, Travelog.net!) and their Technomadic Resources section is
a great resource for people publishing on the go.
